Dropping Rocky Mountain 2 slots because of a roster change?
Disagree.
All respect to the Haydens, but let RMRG actually lose on the banked track before you drop them 2 slots. Particularly if this rank is gonna drop them below Gotham whose last two losses on the bank came against RMRG and their most recent against LADD. You can’t give Gotham too much credit for their last win on the bank over Windy City.
This approach assumes the inverse that if top tier skaters move to a new league, that league will be moved up the ranks before a game is actually played. Say for example something awesome happens and Joy Collision, Hockey Honey, and Atomatrix move away from the AZRD flat track and join AZDD, does that move AZDD up the rankings before a single bout is played? Its troubling to think that a team’s rank can be adjusted so significantly (2 spots) because of a personnel change and not actual game play.
By this logic, just lock Bionic at the top spot and leave them there, because they will always have the Hayden sisters and can continue to pluck the top skaters from any league around the country to feed their superiority. Furthermore, drop LEGIT off the banked rank altogether because they also lost the Haydens and likely won’t have many opportunities to play in banked track bouts after BOTB V. I mean, they haven’t played in many since BOTB IV, right?
Sorry. Not buying this particular ranking.
Thanks for making me the poster child…totally not deserved, but I am flattered
Keep up the good work, and we at Tilted Thunder are looking forward to working with you at battle on the bank!
@DanielSON!
Actually, Rocky only dropped one slot. Somehow the two slots got left over when I was shifting around the tables and just went by numbers. That one got by my proof reading.
A direct Rocky/Gotham game only put Rocky on top by three points, and the Haydens were worth 50% of the score in those games, not including their effect on defense. They’re super self sufficient, at the top of the pile bully jammers. We think any team they’re on is worth +25-50 points in the high end game, and triple digits in the 7 and below ranks in the WFTDA game. In the banked track game, they had much more experience than their teammates with the exception of AJ, via their games in pickup teams like Tucson and friends on the BT against LADD, and Team Legit.
We’ll see how Legit does at BotB without them.
Oh yeah, and if Joy Collision, Hockey Honey, and Atomatrix joined AZDD, you bet it would bump AZDD up in the ranks before a single game were played if they were rostered. Their move to AZRD changed the landscape in the WFTDA West region drastically (and predictably). Atomatrix’s departure from Oly alone has put that team’s prospects into question.
You know how you can tell how valuable a single player is to a team? Or a pair of players? Look at what happens after they foul out.
If Atomatrix joined, she’d bring the experience of dozens of games, most of them during the period where Oly Did Not Lose. She’d also bring speed skate training and a lot of strength building with her. Add Hockey Honey and Joy Collision, who has been around forever and a day in a pretty tough region…
And I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to put AZDD in Div I in such a scenario. Others on the panel might disagree. Before a single game was played if they’d been with the league for more than a month or two and practiced with the team regularly.
Because the way we look at it: If we were betting $1000 on a game, we wouldn’t be looking at the past. We’d be looking at every fact we could find to figure out what assets and disadvantages the team had right now. Absent actual game data, we’re going to look at the changes to the team since the last game. Hell, if I was putting $1K on a game, I’d be gazing into crystal balls trying to see the future, but I sure wouldn’t be using facts from a past where too many things had changed in the interim.
FYI – AZDD does not need the Haydens, Joy Collision, Hockey Honey, and Atomatrix to be theoretical bumped up to Division 1.
You’ll see AZDD division 1 standing right after BOTB V.
DanielSON should post what his Bank Rank would be based on what is or what could of’s / should of’s – that would be an interseting comparasion.
I’m down for SUPER teams with SUPER STARS to be SUPER and have a great time playing on the banked track. I THINK THAT’S SUPER!!! But not to be ranked nationally. That’s going a bit far with the super team notion, IMO.
@Busta Armov bt that definition The LA Angels of Anaheim, Orange County, SoCal, California, West Coast, United States, North America, Western Hemisphere, Northern Hemisphere, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way, Universe should have been ten games up in the AL West at the start of the season because Albert “THE MACHINE” Pujols signed a BEAUCOUP DINEROS contract with them, no?
@Busta Armov
Why was Charm put in Division II? That REALLY painted Kitt into a corner because now he HAS to invite Philthy to the San Diego invitational or else NO ONE from the East.
Ya’ll should include Hurricane Alley from Corpus Christie Tx in the new team category, They acquired ‘Grandma’ TXRD’s old track in January and have secured a practice/bout space. Even though they have not been seen since BOTB II they should be up and running soon. Are we going to have a central/east div now? Seems we have enough leagues within driving distance down here.
Its been a couple of months since the we’ve seen what your predictions are. How about an update.
Been a lot of banked track action happening – BOTB V, Sugartown, Reno, etc.
