It’s the Banked Rank!! Rocky Mountain Rollergirls enter the Banked Rank at the top spot!
After their impressive entry against LADD and SDDD, they’ve earned the number 1 spot in Division 1!!

“If two teams met at the time the rankings are published, who is likely to win?”
…now wouldn’t THAT be interesting between #1 and #2!?! Doppelgängers, anyone?
Your standings aren’t quite correct as Gotham and and Windy did not make appearances at BotB III. Red Dirt finished 7th at BotB III and is completely omitted.
That’s true, but Red Dirt doesn’t exist anymore. Their track was purchased by Outwest Outlaws, who we are hoping make an appearance at BOTB IV. =)
Oh, nevermind about Red Dirt. Didn’t realize they folded and became Outwest.
To quote the first Banked Rank…
“The Banked Rank was conceived after comments in interviews made the assertion that, except for the Battle on the Bank tournament, all interleague games were just “exhibitions” that don’t count for anything.
“With the Arizona Derby Dames, Tilted Thunder Rail Birds and South Side Roller Derby completing their tracks in 2010, Orange County Roller Girls, Reno Roller Girls and others hoping to complete their banked tracks in 2011 , it seems that it’s time to put the interleague efforts of the banked track world into perspective.
“In following the original concepts discussed at the interleague meeting that resulted in Battle on the Bank I in Los Angeles, the goal is to order teams that have a consistent core according to their competitive accomplishments on the bank, whether they are from a banked track league or not.”
The Banked Rank is a year-round snapshot of Banked Track competitive level, taking into account interleague banked track games that take place under WORD rules and officiating standards. The bottom of the document contains the rules for inclusion in the ranks.
@Dave – At that is exactly why they have been ranked that way. If Rocky and Legit played tomorrow, assuming Rocky skaters would skate for Rocky, we as a group decided Rocky would win that game.
I’m down for this to happen…Hey Rocky! What track can we use to beat you on? Legit vs Rocky would be AMAZING!
BOTB4 will crown the national champion for 2011 as far as most people are concerned including myself. The rankings here will likely still have Rocky as #1 and that is just fine. The trophy goes to the team that wins the playoffs, the rest is just great conversation. Again, Rocky, feel free to skate at BOTB4 if at all possible. Because unless you do, you have taken yourself out of contention for the actual banked-track championship for 2011. I like these rankings because so much thought goes into them and they are great for talking about but it is no substitute for the annual tournament for determining the actual champion every year. Hope to see ya’ll in PHX in 7 weeks, I’m very much looking forward to it…
I was told first hand by the head banked track liaison at RMRG that they WILL NOT be playing at BotB4.
Sad.
yeah, i know, would have been nice, especially since it would have had to make TL and RMRG create truly separate line-ups so we can get a real feel of what each of those teams would be like without the crossover skaters. I’d imagine it would have really hurt TL’s chances as I’d have to think allegiances would have to go to the home league for the RMRG skaters. Hmmm, wonder if that’s why RMRG ain’t showing up? Heh heh heh…
Consider this a newbie question, but with the version update in WORD rules, is there a grace period for leagues to switch over that wont prohibit inclusion of a game for the next Banked Rank?
For those who are interested, BotB IV results will supersede previous ranks. It’s the only sane way we can manage this for now.
As far as whether a league or game has to be by the most current WORD rules to be included, we’re going with loose rather than tight rules on that one because WORD updates aren’t on a very tight schedule.
The WORD rules updates are refinements to address problems that have cropped up in games since last year, but I don’t even know if the latest update is ratified. As long as any version of the official WORD rules are used, we’re OK with that. The game results should still be comparable.
Also, while I think TL wouldn’t have an optimal lineup without the Rocky skaters, they’ve been able to attract some pretty top notch talent that is always impressive (Angela Death, Rice Rocket, et al), so I wouldn’t automatically say that it would “really hurt” their chances, but it’ll really sting.
@Busta Armov
True that, they probably would just reload if they had to part with the RMRG skaters for the tourney. So if the results of BOTBIV are going to supercede previous ranks, how does the fact that RMRG isn’t skating at BOTBIV effect that? The order all the teams finish in at BOTBIV will be 2 through 10 in the rankings? At what point does RMRG get dropped due to inactivity on the BT?
Hello there,
Thank you so much for adding us to your ranking. Our first game went well and we look forward to hosting more games at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. FYI- We have a game vs. Reno in Anaheim coming up on June 4. We will keep you posted on future game dates after that one. Thanks for keeping this list growing.
