Southside Roller Girls did play an interleague bout against TXRD around Halloween last year. It was much closer than I expected. They were within only a handful of points from each other for the first two quarters until TXRD finally widened the spread a little in the third quarter. Final score was 79 to 53, with TXRD taking the win. Watching Smartie Pants from TXRD is always a joy…and Dolly B. Rotten from SRD did really well too!
I only have one thing that could make this better: some revnorb outrage.
I’m excited to see banked track getting their own public rankings!
@GrrrlFriday_HRD
Edited for a lot of reasons…
While the Banked Rank is designed to include more types of games, you can’t make every game meaningful enough to figure out where to rank it.
In the case of the TXRD/Southside game, it appears that the TXRD team was not an established team that another league might play for direct comparison, even with our more flexible standards for ranking than flat track. Southside did hold it’s own against a pickup team of highly experienced skaters though. They’ve got games scheduled against other leagues that have joined the banked track world, so we’re looking forward to the results of those games.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage people to send their scores to Derby News Network, which gets it in the Derbymatic database that is used for DNN’s score search page. Even if it’s a one time game, it makes it easier on researchers and easier to settle “Remember that game” disputes
The “Scores” page can be found at:
http://www.derbynewsnetwork.com/scores
The page to report scores on is: http://www.derbynewsnetwork.com/submit
You fill in “Summary” and “Content” with the same thing. The clearest format is:
[League name][Team name] 100, [League name][Team name] 99 @ [host league's name]
If it’s a one off pickup team with no name, then for “Team name”, “pickup team” would be the best description.
what has become of red dirt rebellion in Oklahoma?
@Busta Armov: Oh, sorry I confused you; I was just a passive observer of that game. I’m actually a skater with Houston Roller Derby. I had no idea that banked track divisions were so complex!
@Fighty: Red Dirt Rebellion as a league is no more. Many of their skaters went on to form Outwest Outlaws Roller Derby, and they have acquired the Red Dirt Rebellion banked track.
According to their website, OORD has been participating in scrimmages with some of the local flat track leagues, including one benefiting Tequila Mockingbird that was put on by the Oklahoma Victory Dolls.
@GrrrlFriday_HRD: Banked track is more complex. Interleague is still something of an anomaly, and WORD hasn’t solidified as an organization yet. There are no “member” leagues, there’s no sanctioning, and until the Banked Rank, the only interleague that “counted” were the games played at Battle on the Bank.
Divisioning is the Banked Rank’s invention, and so far the feedback I’ve gotten makes it sound like it’s a welcome idea. But because we’re making up our very own rules for inclusion, which is resulting in more flexible inclusion standards, it makes our job more complex. Or it will as more interleague games are played.
@fighty almighty, kay oh
They’ve been re-born as the Outwest Outlaws.
Looks pretty accurate to me! Good job Busta and Tara and Derby Deeds! I have been really enjoying catching up on the last 36 podcasts or so…
Check out my little southern ca roller derby examiner page. The Sirens just came down from LA to pay Hard Corps, one of San Diego Derby Dolls’ flat track B teams. http://www.examiner.com/roller-derby-in-san-diego/san-diego-derby-dolls-lose-season-opener-to-the-la-sirens-review
Thanks for being around and let me know if you ever want more southern CA derby info!

Where are the Loca Boca Ratons ranked?
YEEE-AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I’ve been chuckling about the transformation of the Doll Factory into that pastel South Beach eyesore for days now, heh!
And, yes, these rankings are BareMaximum approved, good job, Pitchit, love the two tier thing!
Busta and Tara get the bulk of the credit. I just stand around looking stupid.
This is great, Thanks for taking the time to do this! But just gotta say there is no such thing as a game that doesn’t count, pride and doing what you love count for a lot. Do what you love and do it with all you’ve got and you always win. I know, Im such a mom.
@Pitchit
Dude, you’re the tough audience that’s hard to please. We didn’t screw up this time, so it got an easy pass
Wait until we get conflicting results. Then it’ll be a party. Also, I don’t think I would have pulled the trigger without your support and feedback.
Hi there,
Thank you so much for including us… what an honor and so excited to see it in print
We hope to get ranked soon enough…home dates will be announced very soon.. So- to understand this better….. this ranking starts from BOTB 3 and #1 and #2 are not included in this ranking? (We were at BOTB in LA)
Thanks for what you do … 2011 is going to be exciting!
It pretty much starts with “latest data available” from 2010 and moves forward. 13 months is the benchmark we’re using for grandfathered results without a WORD banked track game.
@Bo Toxic
I wish my mom was a derby mom… my mom just watched a lot of soap operas and told me to go play outside… lame… I got gypped… sigh… =) Missed ya at Champs, Bo… and I saw they took yours and Trish’s vulvalas or whatever their called away… in their defense, the sound they make is uncannily identical to that of a ref’s whistle, impossible to tell them apart, seriously, ref’s should just blow them now instead of whistles, that’s how eerily close they are in pitch and timber!
@Busta Armov
dude, Pitchit pays serious attention to detail and will call your ass to the carpet publicly and loudly if he thinks there is an indiscretion, I have no idea what his actual day job is but if it is not revolved around litigation in some way then my man has missed his calling! He and the rest of the DD staff kick ass.
This is JUST the beginning!!
Please please please send your scores in to DNN! It will help your league/teams name get out there and will also help with rankings.
@Bare Maximum
The first time I met Pitchit, I wondered if he had those fake balls on the back of his big truck…I was shocked to find out NO! But yes, he keeps it real. I think we all try to at Derby Deeds! Thanks for listening.
in re TTRB: “They are located in one of the hottest derby regions in the world, presumably with access to some of the best banked track skaters in Team Legit.”
one day I will tell you a funny joke about that includes the word presumptuous in the punch line
@Sheeza Brickhouse
Truck Nutz! If I ever see a skater devise a way to hang those on the back of her skates I will laugh until body functions cease.

@Pitchit
LOL! I don’t know who’s sicker… the person who makes these or you for taking the time to somehow track them down, ha!
