Wow! Amazing speed getting the podcast up so quickly! Spent the 12 hour drive home after nationals listening to the podcasts again, and then the new one this morning. They are a great recap and help put the ref calls and action a all in perspective. Y’all answer most of the question I have had about the game, like who got ejected and such.
Awesome and much thanks.
Great job reporting from the Westerns guys
A few thoughts-
You guys felt that in the bout following their loss to BAD that Denver had these very serious looks as if they were thinking ahead to their bout with Rat City. I, on the other hand, got the vibe from their looks and body language that they were seriously disappointed and bummed over not going to the Nationals. Not to take anything away from Rat’s fine effort and victory, I got the sense that Rat brought a lot more passion to that bout, while Denver mourning their lost opportunity seemed more inconsistent.
BAD vs. Rose–BAD came into the game relatively energized after not going to the mat to take down the Rocky juggernaut the previous evening; this isn’t to say that they didn’t play hard but I didn’t get the sense that they went all out, while I got the sense that Rose on the other hand went to the barricades and just about emptied the tank mentally and physically against Oly, and judging by their play–lack of alertness in noticing BAD jammers passing by and not quite fielding the hard strong walls they normally put up–did not have the energy level rise to the occasion as well as they wanted to or normally would have been able to.
Great coverage–thanks
Thanks so much for getting these podcasts up so quickly. Loved listening to them. There were a ton of great recaps. I have been enjoying derby deeds ever since I heard about it when I came with RMRG to the big pacific north west tour this spring.
Your ‘daily wraps’ were great analysis of the teams and the bouts. However, I do wish that Pitchit hadn’t made such derogatory comments about Coach Eric (from Oly) and Jose Queervo (RMRG Coach) and then about Frida Beater. The things he said were rude and, worse, they weren’t even true.
I don’t personally know Eric, but he has been coaching a team that won a record-setting 23 straight games. They have chosen him to be in that role for a reason. Jose Queervo skates and has been a long time RMRG ref. He knows the game. He’s in the position he’s in with the top league in the West because he knows what the hell he’s talking about. Also, Frida Beater is one of RMRG’s top all-time scoring jammers. She has been incredibly effective in both roles as jammer and blocker. Pitchit’s comments went beyond game analysis into personal attacks.
To call out an individual skater like that and then to rip on the coaches who he apparently doesn’t even know on this podcast was uncalled for. I hope that I don’t hear that type of negative, mean, inaccurate and unnecessary commentary on here in the future.
I apologize. There are no excuses. It will not happen again.
Thank you guys for all of the daily wrap ups!!!! You guys killed it on the interviews, and at the afterparties!
